When we moved from Bombay to Hyderabad, I knew we would be in for a bit of a culture shock, but nothing could have prepared us for the disasters that kept taking place. First of all, our moving truck met an accident and was detained at some random police station on the outskirts of Andhra Pradesh. Then, the aunt we were supposed to be living with till we found rented accommodation for ourselves, fell sick and had to go to stay with her son in Delhi. We were at a loss on what to do, but with our accommodation plans gone awry, we needed to book a hotel pronto. We found quite a few Hotels in Hyderabad near Charminar, but they didn’t seem like the family type.
We decided to keep looking, and by the end of the day, we had found Fern Hotel, one of the best business Hotels in Hyderabad. Now, despite my saying that it was a business hotel, it had all the advantages of staying at a good quality family hotel. The staff was very caring, and helped take care of my 2 year old with aplomb. Although the room service menu doesn’t cover hot milk, yet they brought it for us every time we asked for it. In other words, I think we couldn’t have found a better place to stay for the two weeks that we didn’t have a home on Hyderabad. They even helped us with our luggage problems, giving us advice on how to handle the situation. Now, how many hotels do you know that would train its staff to be so helpful?
